History of The Master's Touch Praise Ministries

The Harvey Memorial Baptist Church was organized in January 1960 by the late Rev. Dr. Pervis “Fireball” McKenney at 22nd and Virginia Avenue, NW and was organized at the Radio Music Hall, 9th & V Streets NW in April of the same year. The recognition service for the church was held at Corinthian Baptist Church in May 1960. Pastor McKenney adopted for the Church Slogan “If God Be For Us, Who Can Be Against Us” (Romans 8:31). We rented the Radio Music Hall for almost two years and broadcast our Sunday service over WUST Radio. As the membership grew we had to seek a larger facility to hold our services. In 1962 we purchased a building at 4410 Georgia Avenue NW. Because God continued to add to the church we had to begin looking for yet another larger facility. We sought the Lord for a Church building and He led us to 3204 Brothers Place, SE. We marched in on the first Sunday in September 1965. Harvey was always a spirit-filled church, people were being saved, healed and delivered by the power of God. We were taught to be faithful to God by bringing our first fruits to God thus becoming a tithing church. Our services were broadcast on WUST and WYCB radio stations.

In 1998 the Lord called Pastor McKenney from labor to reward. We were heart-broken, but knew the work of the Church and our commitment to the Lord had to continue, therefore, we sought God for a new Pastor. The church went fourth under the leadership of then Deacon Thomas Grant and in the year 2000, God answered our prayers and sent us our present Pastor, Rev. Dr. Vincent A. Charity.

Dr. Charity was installed as Pastor on March 16, 2000. We continued to petition the throne of grace for God’s will and His guidance because we are a church determined to do things His way. Under Dr. Charity’s leadership, membership has grown, we relocated and in June 2005, officially changed the name of our Church to The Master’s Touch Praise Ministries. Dr. Charity has taken us to a new level in Christ and we believe that through Christ we can do all things.

We moved into our new church building at 901 Southern Avenue, Oxon Hill, Maryland, in December 2004. We are still in the renovation phase and thank God for every step He has brought us. We praise God for the vision of Rev. Dr. Vincent Charity and for the faithful servants who pour into this ministry. By faith, much prayer, hard work, diligence and untiring effort we can truly praise Him for our new edifice. At our new location we have instituted new ministries and continue to seek God’s divine direction in all our endeavors as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to carry on a successful ministry to the Glory and Honor of God. Our Church has been blessed to have two of God’s most faithful and loving servants to lead us, one, Dr. Charity who was elevated to the second highest level of the Bishopric, Bishop Ordinary, on May 16, 2009. We give God all the glory.

The favor of God has once again been bestowed upon The Master's Touch Praise Ministries. We have been blessed with a new location at 4706 Raleigh Road, Temple Hills, Maryland effective Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
